For teams moving between office and site this is the most-worn group; because it keeps a corporate look, it is also chosen for client visits.
Three-layer construction is common in softshell: a water-repellent face, a wind membrane in the middle and a fleece backing. That build removes the need for a separate raincoat in light rain.
The choice between fleece and softshell is made by looking at wind. For indoor use or under a jacket, fleece is warmer and breathes better; for outdoor use on its own, the wind membrane of a softshell is decisive. Producing both in the same range lets the crew choose by season.
The most common complaint in this group is pilling: low-quality fleece fuzzes after a few washes and spoils the corporate look. Anti-pilling finished fabrics cost slightly more at purchase but show the difference clearly in the second year.

Frequently asked questions
Is softshell enough in the rain?
It is enough for light, short rain; for crews working under continuous rainfall we recommend moving to the rainwear group covered by EN 343.
Can fleece be used as the only work garment?
Indoors and in windless environments such as warehouses, yes. Outdoors it falls short on its own; wind passes through the porous structure and the insulation collapses.
Does embroidery make a softshell leak?
On membrane models the needle pierces the membrane. Embroidery is therefore placed on the upper chest, away from direct rain exposure, or backed with an adhesive patch.
Does fleece pill after washing?
Low-quality fleece does, within a few washes, and it spoils the corporate look. Anti-pilling finished fabric costs slightly more up front and shows the difference clearly in the second year.
Is softshell waterproof?
Most softshells are water-repellent rather than waterproof. They handle light rain; continuous rain calls for a taped-seam rain jacket.
