Custom manufacturing
Custom manufacturing means a garment developed from the way you work rather than from a stock model. At Formasan, design, patterns, fabric selection, branding and the production run are all part of the same line; the process starts with an enquiry and is signed off with a sample that has been worn on site.
When we develop new models we try to serve as many users as possible. But every company has its own working methods, its own rules and its own corporate identity, and those usually call for something outside the standard model. A maintenance crew's pocket layout is not — and should not be — the same as a warehouse team's.
In custom production the first conversation is about fabric: what blend do the heat, abrasion, wash frequency and chemical contact on your site call for? Then comes the pattern — range of movement, knee and elbow reinforcement, pocket placement and size distribution. Corporate identity is the last layer: colour code, logo application, reflective placement, name tags and labels.
We never start a production run without an approved sample. The sample is trialled on site, feedback is collected and the pattern revised if needed. Print and embroidery colour, label design and packaging format are each approved separately.

From enquiry to shipment in four steps

Needs and hazard analysis
Headcount, site conditions, hazard groups and frequency of use are mapped. This is where the required standard becomes clear.

Design and fabric selection
The model is developed digitally; fabric, colour, pocket layout, reflective tape and labelling are decided together.

Sample and field trial
A sample is produced before the run, tried on site and the pattern revised. Print and embroidery colours are approved separately.

Production and scheduled delivery
Size sets are prepared, final inspection is carried out, packaging is arranged to suit your organisation and shipment follows the agreed calendar.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum quantity for custom production?
Custom production involves pattern and fabric preparation, so it makes sense above a certain quantity. The minimum depends on the product group and fabric; we share the exact figure with your quote.
Are samples chargeable?
Sample terms depend on the scope of the project. Where the work converts into a production run, the sample is usually counted within the order; we confirm the details in writing at the quote stage.
Do you design it, or do we supply the design?
Either works. If you have a technical drawing or an existing garment we build on it; if not, we listen to your needs, develop the model digitally and submit it for approval.
How long does production take?
Lead time depends on quantity, fabric availability and the extent of branding. The calendar is given in writing with the quote and confirmed once the sample is approved.
Can you produce the same item again next year?
Yes. The approved pattern, fabric and colour data are recorded, so repeat orders are produced to the same specification. Consistency in corporate clothing depends on keeping that record.
How does custom workwear production start?
With the working environment, the risk and the quantity. Fabric and pattern are then proposed, a sample is produced and trialled on site, and after approval the production and delivery schedule is set.
Can we supply our own pattern or an existing garment?
Yes. You can send a garment as a reference or share your pattern. If we see room for improvement we set it out with the reasoning, but the final decision is yours.
